But under Australian law it’s illegal to work in these industries unless you have specific safety qualifications, it doesn’t matter how much experience you have from home - you won’t get the job without doing the right course. Penalties for getting caught are harsh. Employers wouldn’t risk it and neither should you.
Hospitality Jobs:
RSA Course $85
The RSA is a mandatory legal requirement vital for all types of hospitality work in licensed premises.
The Responsible Service of Alcohol Course (RSA) is a must for anyone wanting to work around alcohol. Not just for those working in pubs and clubs, when applying for café and restaurant work having this course will give you an advantage. You literally cannot pass a customer a glass of alcohol without it.
Authorities conduct regular checks to make sure staff of licensed premises have an RSA. If you are caught working without it both you and your boss get massive fines. It could affect your visa and you could also lose your job.

The Responsible Conduct of Gambling is designed for staff of hotels & registered clubs with gaming facilities, like pokies, Keno and TAB horse betting. Most pubs have gambling services and require all staff to complete their Responsible Conduct of Gambling. So, be a cut above the rest! Having an RCG in conjunction with the RSA will seriously improve your chances of getting hired.

Construction Jobs
Green Card Course $110
It's illegal to work in construction without a Green Card. Get the certificate and get the job!
The Green Card Course takes between 6-7 hours and you are issued with your certificate on the same day enabling you to secure work immediately afterwards. It is like the Irish Safe Pass or UK CSCS Card.
There has been a recent change which allows you to use the Green Card Australia-wide; previously you needed to do a separate course for each state so it is much cheaper now.

Traffic Control Course $165
Save more, travel more! Controlling traffic is a great paying job
The Traffic Control course may be more expensive but it certainly pays off. Being a traffic controller is a great paying job as you could be earning upwards of $30 p/hr! This course involves using a slow / stop sign to direct traffic and is great for backpackers because work is available on a casual basis Australia-wide. You must have either a current or expired driving license to do this course and you must do the Green Card first.
